Before we do that, though, let's take a couple minutes, check it out, and make sure it's going to be right for you. Before we jump right in, I figured it'd be useful just to kind of refresh ourselves on the main parts that we're gonna need to flat tow our GMC down the road in the first place. So you're gonna have your base plate, which gives us an attachment point. That way, we can hook our tow bar up to it. more

Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Installation - 2015 GMC Canyon

Hey everybody, Ryan here at e-trailer. Today on our 2015 GMC Canyon we're gonna be showing you how to install the Roadmaster Stoplight Switch kit. But before we do that, let's take a minute, check it out, and make sure this is something you might need. A stoplight switch is a really simple component and it's only really needed in some cases and it's really just gonna depend on what braking system you plan on using. So right off the top of my head, at least the the popular ones that I'm familiar with that could benefit from this is the Stay-IN-Play DUO supplemental braking system like we have here today on our GMC as well as the Roadmaster InvisiBrake. And what that stoplight switch is gonna do is send power to the braking system's indicator light letting you know when the brake pedal is actually getting pushed down in the vehicle when the supplemental braking system is operating. more

So right off the bat, if you're interested in a supplemental braking system like this you just need to know that the Stay-IN-Play DUO is designed for RVs that have hydraulic brakes. If your rig has air brakes, then an equally great system, it's Demco's Air Force One Supplemental Braking System. So if you're interested in towing your GMC Canyon there's five main components that you're really gonna need to get you set up and ready to hit the road. Number one, the base plate. more

Demco SBS with Wireless Coachlink Installation - 2021 GMC Canyon

Hi there, GMC owners. Today, in your 2021 GMC Canyon, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's Air Force One Supplemental Braking System. And this is what our breaking system looks like when it's installed. This is a permanently mounted braking system that will stay on your vehicle, whether or not you're flat towing or you're driving it around town. This system operates off of the air pressure from the air brakes on your motorhome, so when you're driving around town not hooked up, it will never be able to activate for you, so it's a nice safe system. And it is a truly proportional system because the harder you hit your brakes in the motorhome, the more pressure it's gonna send back to this system and apply the brakes here harder. more

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2019 GMC Canyon- Video

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2019 GMC Canyon

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Air Force One supplemental braking system on our 2019 Canyon. Now whenever we're flat towing our Canyon, it's important to have a supplemental braking system so that it can slow itself down and stop itself, rather than relying on our motor home to do all the braking and put a lot of strain and stress on it. But also keep in mind that a supplemental braking system is only going to be one of five main components that you need for a safe, secure flat tow set up.First, we're going to need to a base plate and this is going to mount directly to the frame of our Canyon. So we have a secure connection point for our tow bar. Now our tow bar is going to be the next component and that's going to connect our base plate to the motor home. Then we'll have our safety cables. more

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2016 GMC Canyon- Video

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2016 GMC Canyon

Today on our 2016 GMC Canyon, we're going to be installing SMI's stay and play duo supplemental braking system. For your complete flat tow setup on your 2016 GMC Canyon, we'll be using SMI's stay and play duo supplemental braking system, Roadmaster's direct connect baseplate kit, Roadmaster's diode wiring kit, Roadmaster's automatic battery disconnect, Roadmaster's stop light switch kit, Roadmaster's Falcon all terrain non binding tow bars, Roadmaster's 64 inch single hook safety cables. When flat towing your GMC Canyon, you're going to need a braking system. This braking system is going to be a full proportional braking system that's going to mount inside your vehicle and always be there ready to go when you are. It achieves proportional braking due to the inertia sensor found inside the control unit. This inertia sensor detects how quickly your trying to come to a stop and applies the brakes appropriately for that situation. Located on the side of our control unit, we're going to have a sensitivity knob and you can move this up or down to determine how sensitive you want your braking system to be.There's an on and off switch also located on here. more
